Tonight's episode of The X Factor was full of tension as the final three who will perform in the grand final next week was announced.

The first contestant who was safe from elimination this week was Samantha Jade who has been able to impress the Australian public with her polished performances every week during the competition and has now seen her songs reach number one in the iTunes Charts.

Second accross the line and safe was Jason Owen who has demonstrated from week to week that he has the ability to pull of a predictably good performance. Jason is an Aussie bloke from a town of twelve who has grown in his ability to perform enormously throughout the competition.

The final two came down to Bella Ferraro and The Collective. Both acts performed very well and the judges did not come to a mutual discussion about who they wanted to send to the next show so the decision was handed back to the public votes. Bella was sent home but not without an emotional farewell speech thanking the crew, contestants, voters and mentor Natalie B.

The remaining three acts will perform next Monday night for their last chance at the winning title for The X Factor 2012 on channel 7 at 7:30pm (NSW).
